Our Environmental Policy
Climate Change Risk
KONAK MAZLUM OTEL is located in the center of Erzincan. Erzincan, due to its location in the Eastern Anatolia Region, has a continental climate with distinct seasons. Although significant adverse impacts and risks related to climate change are rare in the region, measures are being taken to reduce environmental effects and support a sustainable environment.

Wastewater
Wastewater generated by our hotel is safely disposed of through the municipal sewage system of Erzincan Municipality. No wastewater is discharged into open areas.

Solid Waste
Solid waste generated in our hotel (paper, plastic, glass, metal, etc.) is sorted by type and managed in cooperation with recycling companies contracted by Erzincan Municipality. Equipment is provided in hotel rooms and public areas to encourage our guests to separate their waste.

Potential non-hazardous waste generated in the facility includes:

Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Waste in Our Facility
Hazardous Waste:
➤ Waste containing hazardous substances such as toner cartridges from printing machines
➤ Motor oils from generator maintenance
➤ Packaging contaminated with residues of hazardous substances or hazardous materials
➤ Absorbents, filter materials (including oil filters if not otherwise defined), cleaning rags, protective clothing contaminated with hazardous substances
➤ Waste requiring special handling and disposal for infection prevention, stored by the health officer and handed over to municipal staff
➤ Fluorescent tubes and other mercury-containing waste
➤ Batteries and mixed, unclassified batteries and accumulators
➤ Hazardous waste consisting of liquid and solid oils: These are handed over to licensed and authorized organizations by the Ministry of Environment for recycling

Harmful Substances (Protection and Conservation of Biodiversity)
All pest control activities are carried out with chemicals approved by the Ministry and licensed for legal use, in cooperation with the pest control company contracted with our business. The MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) of all chemicals used in this process are obtained and necessary checks are made.

Invasive Species Prevention
In the fight against invasive species, we work with a pest control company. The company carries out our requests and performs periodic pest control treatments. To monitor and control harmful rodents, rodent control kits are positioned in potential danger areas of our hotel. These checks are performed periodically and recorded.

Animal Welfare
Due to the concept of our hotel, keeping pets is not permitted. However, food scraps generated by our hotel are collected daily and sent to the animal shelters designated by the municipality.

Pollution Monitoring, Minimization, and Environmental Cleaning
Our hotel actively monitors pollution levels and implements measures to minimize environmental impact. We prioritize reducing waste generation, controlling emissions, and maintaining clean surroundings to ensure a healthy environment. Regular environmental cleaning activities are carried out to keep both indoor and outdoor areas pristine. This includes waste disposal, air quality monitoring, and proper management of materials and resources to minimize pollution and enhance sustainability.

Location and Environmental Management
Our hotel is located in the city center. Cleaning of the hotel grounds and the removal of waste that could cause pollution are carried out periodically. Waste bins placed in common areas help prevent environmental pollution. The housekeeping team regularly performs area cleaning, preventing natural contamination.

To minimize pollution within and outside the hotel, our staff receives training on environmental pollution management. Various plants in the hotel’s landscaping contribute to creating sustainable and eco-friendly environments, which is a key principle for us. Our team conducts periodic plant care to ensure the vitality of living plant environments, and we continue our efforts to maintain these spaces in both the hotel and the surrounding social areas.

Additionally, we remind all guests staying at or visiting our hotel to use resources efficiently by placing posters and visuals at accessible locations. These materials reflect our ongoing efforts in this regard. We also conduct satisfaction surveys where we ask guests about our policies and encourage them to share their suggestions. We carefully consider their feedback to improve our practices.

Efficient Building and Infrastructure
From an architectural perspective, KONAK MAZLUM OTEL is designed in accordance with the unique building style of the region, ensuring harmony and integration with the modern regional architecture. Energy Conservation
All lighting used within our hotel is LED lighting. The use of LED lighting helps prevent up to 70% of energy loss, contributing to significant energy savings. Our energy policy focuses on continuous improvements, with efforts being made according to the following goals to ensure ongoing enhancements in our energy efficiency:

  • Install meters on high-energy-consuming devices.
  • Appoint personnel to collect energy data.
  • Implement small changes to achieve energy savings.

  • Use bicycles and eco-friendly vehicles around the hotel.

Water Conservation and Management
To promote water conservation, our hotel utilizes aerators in faucets and showerheads. The aerators ensure that water flows more efficiently by mixing air with the water, increasing the flow density. This results in less water being used while maintaining an effective rinsing effect.

The primary function of the aerator is to mix air with the water, significantly conserving water. Increasing the number of aerators in our hotel is one of our main objectives.

Our hotel's tap water is supplied by the municipal water system. The water is regularly tested to ensure that our guests have access to healthy water. In all public restrooms, sensor-controlled devices are used to reduce water consumption. Additionally, toilets in guest rooms and other areas are designed with dual-flush systems.

To raise awareness, we have posted posters and visuals in visible areas, such as elevators and the reception, about the efficient use of water, sustainability, and the importance of passing these practices on to future generations.

To minimize resource consumption, we organize regular training sessions for our staff, led by department managers and safety experts. These trainings cover various topics, including the proper use of resources. Similarly, on-site and hands-on training is provided regarding the use of chemicals. To ensure the correct use of natural resources, we actively follow innovations and best practices during renovation, repair, or maintenance work within the hotel.

Cleaner Transportation
Our company currently operates gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles. The main pollutants released into the air from their exhaust systems include carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, sulfur dioxide (in diesel engines), nitrogen oxides, and lead. Our goal for 2025-2026 is to replace at least one company vehicle with a 100% electric vehicle.

Social and Cultural
At KONAK MAZLUM, one of our priorities is to provide a fair and peaceful environment for our employees. We comply with all national and international regulations regarding occupational health and safety and collaborate with a corporate occupational health and safety firm.

We regularly organize training sessions through our Occupational Safety Specialist, workplace doctor, and Human Resources department on various topics, including potential accidents in the workplace, preventive measures, and employees' legal rights. Our goal is to always provide a safer and healthier working environment for our staff.

We regulate working hours in compliance with legal regulations and ensure that employees’ rights are fully met in the case of overtime. Working hours for both our employees and the interns preparing for the industry are arranged according to legal requirements, with all rights provided by our facility.

We periodically conduct anonymous surveys with our employees to gather their opinions on sustainability and areas for improvement within the facility. Their feedback is carefully evaluated, and any issues they encounter are promptly addressed and resolved.

Along with our internal training programs, we also receive support from educational institutions. We actively collaborate with organizations such as Anadolu Hotel Management and Tourism High School and other training portals.

We ensure that the food items purchased from suppliers in the Erzincan region adhere to Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) standards and consist of ecological and organic products.
Eggs: The eggs served at our breakfast come from local merchants and farmers in the region.
Fruits and Vegetables: 60% of the fruits and vegetables used in our hotel are selected from ecological and GAP-certified products. The remaining 30% is sourced from outside Erzincan.
